Scott Bauer

A friend recently told me and I quote, “Scott’s awesome. Look at him, how do you not love Scott?” This happened to be in response to Scott attempting, and failing miserably, to learn the NSYNC dance, “Bye, Bye, Bye”. He has provided me with a few entertaining stories for the blog over the past year. He is at times, frustrating and funny, which usually come across as funny to everyone else and not so funny to me :-). Anyone remember the Battle over Dog Food? Or Angry Birds/Mommy Breakdown?

While I love Scott’s funny side, his serious side is equally appealing to me. He is not by any means spontaneous; always choosing to research whatever down to the tiniest detail before making a decision or purchasing anything. I fall somewhere in the middle of spontaneous and being a planner, so this quirk can sometimes just make me sigh (and roll my eyes, according to Scott).

And let’s take a minute and talk about THE LISTS. Yeah, you know what I am talking about. In our family, Scott’s lists are legendary. Even with all the great note-taking apps now, he still prefers to write his 7-Day list on paper the size of a Post-It and keep it in his wallet. He has them for everything! Even to my surprise, sometimes a list for me (again, I am rolling my eyes, intentionally, this time.)

Now, let’s move on to the questions…and another quote from an unnamed source, “If I don’t get my four daily emails of questions from Scott, my whole day is thrown off.” Need I say more? Most of you know this to be true.

Saving Money. Scott once packed an entire suitcase full of lemonade to take on a cruise so we wouldn’t be charged for drinks. When we weighed in at the airport, we exceeded the weight limit by a landslide. So in actuality, he bought lemonade to give all the airline workers since we left it all with them. They loved us; best airport experience we’ve ever had. Oh, and when we got on the ship…lemonade was FREE.

So you may be wondering, why am I mentioning all of this? What is going on? Well, I just wanted to take a time-out from all the craziness of the last month and the MADNESS that we are about to experience in the next 2 weeks to say, THANK YOU, Scott. You have a lot on your plate right now and you are understandably stressed, but you have handled it great. What started out as a one in a million chance is now a reality. And ALL of your funny quirks helped us to get here. I love you and I APPRECIATE everything you do for this family. You are the best husband, father, man I know.

And Scott Bauer, DO NOT make me regret this. I am being honest and loving here, so if your ego has tripled in size over this post and you can’t get your head through the door when you get home, I will leave you and your ego out in the cold. I will provide you with a Post It and a pen so you can plan your way back in the house. Love you, baby!

Wut You

In the midst of the car seat battle this morning:

Dylan: (unintelligible fussiness)
Me: What's wrong? What do you want?
Dylan: Mama, hug!
Me: (hug)
Dylan: Wut You! (Love You)

Yeah, that puddle on the floor is me!! So sweet!

Holidays

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

We spent Christmas with Scott's family at the lake, where Santa delivered lots of toys.  We had good family time with Grandma Marie, Paw Paw, Uncle Jon, Aunt Tara, Grandma Dorothy, and Uncle Dave.  We explored the Greenville zoo and this mommy got some girl time with all the ladies, minus my little man.

Then Dylan and I spent the week in Gastonia with my family.  We had trips to the park, the museum, and fed the ducks.  It was also Addie's first birthday.  Nana and Pops volunteered to babysit and we had a night out at with good friends for New Years.

All in all, it was a perfect vacation.  It occurred to me last night, as I was sitting here, watching TV, and being sucked in by the Bachelor, that gosh, I had to go back to work today.  Boo!

Here are some pictures from the Christmas/New Years Holiday!

Someone learned how to lock doors over the holiday.  Oh and he also learned how to lock his Mama out of a room.

He thought this mastodon was a goat!

Chicken, literally chasing Dylan at the outdoor exhibit at the zoo.  It included chickens, which come out of the fence and chase little boys, pigs, and goats.  He LOVED it!
